UKZN Hosts Academy of Pharmaceutical Sciences Conference
Change is the only constant in the world of pharmaceutical sciences… the Academy of Pharmaceutical Sciences of South Africa (APSSA) Conference 2023 hosted at Zimbali by UKZN was testament to that!
Themed Riding the Waves of Change, the event not only embraced change but also surmounted it with resounding success, exceeding all expectations in terms of attendance, content and networking opportunities.
The conference, presented by UKZN’s Discipline of Pharmaceutical Sciences, featured a rich and diverse array of sessions and discussions as well as international guests and local industry luminaries. The programme catered to a wide spectrum of interests and expertise giving participants opportunities to delve into the latest trends, research findings and best practices in pharmaceutical sciences.
One of the most striking aspects of the gathering was the numbers attending. Initially expecting around 70 participants, the conference exceeded all expectations with more than 140 delegates from Pharmacy schools across South Africa. The conference facilitated an environment where ideas flowed freely and relationships were forged, ensuring that the impact of this event would resonate long after its conclusion.
The conference did not stop with knowledge exchange but also celebrated excellence. Awards were presented to recognise outstanding contributions by young scientists, distinguished teachers, best publications in the various core fields of Pharmacy and best poster presentations. These awards highlighted the significance of innovation and dedication fostered across all Pharmacy schools.
Anticipation for next year’s conference is already palpable and building on the momentum of this year’s success, the organising committee is poised to deliver another exceptional event hosted by the University of the Western Cape.
